Meaningful Ways to Celebrate Easter Resurrection with Family

Updated: Mar 7

The story of Easter resurrection unfolds with the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Good Friday, a solemn day of reflection and remembrance. His death on the cross symbolizes sacrifice, love, and ultimate redemption for humanity's sins. However, the story does not end there. Three days later, on Easter Sunday, Jesus rises from the dead, conquering death and offering believers the promise of eternal life. Easter is one of the most important holidays in the Christians calendar, and it is a time of joyous celebration and reflection on the significance of Jesus' resurrection.

As we celebrate the Easter resurrection, let us reflect on the timeless message it carries - a message of hope, renewal, and redemption. May we draw inspiration from the story of Jesus' triumph over death.

Here is a fun, simple, enjoyable recipe to share and make with your children and guests

that teaches the story of the empty tomb that's found on Easter!

You can find many variations of this recipe online, but this one is my favorite.

Empty Tomb Rolls

Empty Tomb Rolls aka Resurrection Rolls are a delicious and symbolic treat often enjoyed during the Easter season. These sweet pastries not only make for a tasty dessert but also serve as a fun and creative way to teach the story of Jesus' resurrection to children and families. Here's a simple recipe for making resurrection rolls:

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of refrigerated crescent roll dough

  • Large marshmallows (one for each roll)

  • Melted butter

  • Cinnamon sugar mixture (optional) Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to the temperature indicated on the crescent roll dough package.

  • Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into individual triangles.

  • Explain to your children or guests that the marshmallows represent Jesus' body being laid in the tomb.

  • Dip each marshmallow in melted butter, coating it completely.

  • Roll the buttered marshmallow in the cinnamon sugar mixture if desired.

  • Place a coated marshmallow in the center of each crescent roll triangle.

  • Wrap the dough around the marshmallow and pinch the seams to seal it completely. Make sure the marshmallow is completely covered by the dough.

  • Place the rolls on a baking sheet and bake them in the preheated oven according to the crescent roll package.

  • Once the rolls are baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly.

  • As the rolls cool, explain to your children or guests that the empty tomb rolls represent Jesus rising from the dead.

  • When the rolls are cool enough to handle, break one open to reveal that the marshmallow has melted, leaving an "empty tomb" inside the roll.

  • Enjoy the delicious and symbolic resurrection rolls with your family and friends as you celebrate the Easter season.

To teach the story of Jesus, you can read the story from the Bible in Luke 23-24, from a kids story bible. "He has risen, just as He said" (Matthew 28:6)

Resurrection rolls not only provide a fun and interactive way to engage with the story of Easter but also offer a tasty treat that can be enjoyed by all ages. Whether you make them as a teaching tool or simply as a delicious dessert, resurrection rolls are sure to be a hit at your Easter gatherings.

Happy Easter
